Seven Network chose Outcomex to assist them during their wireless refresh. Focusing on the broadcaster’s wireless-first approach, Outcomex deployed an end-to-end infrastructure solution, leveraging Seven’s existing security policy management platform in conjunction with other multiple solutions. This lay the foundation for a secure, highly reliable and resilient wireless environment that improves user experience for both staff and visitors, while enhancing and strengthening their existing security measures.

Client

Seven Network is one of the highest-rated TV networks nationally within Australia and reaches about 17 million people monthly. Owned by Seven West Media Limited, Seven Network initially began as a group of independent TV stations in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney in the 1950s. With headquarters located in Sydney and offices located nationally, Seven Network is one of the five main free-to-air tv networks in the country, boasting sports, news and entertainment programming.

Opportunity

Seven Network was in the process of refreshing the existing wireless environment across their Eveleigh Campus in NSW. Seven wanted to also utilise some of the equipment currently in Eveleigh to refresh some of their regional offices. Existing wireless infrastructure within the building had become old and as a result, causing the broadcaster’s team to experience connection issues, lack of functionality and network reliability, hindering an efficient work environment.

The broadcaster wanted to focus on a drive towards a wireless-first corporate network environment, which means that the management and performance of the wireless network will be paramount to providing a great user experience. Additionally, Seven wanted to ensure their security posture remained strong during and after the refresh.

Solution

To help Seven Network find a solution to meet its requirements, Outcomex strategically leveraged multiple vendor solutions, to enable the broadcaster’s staff and visitors to connect to the network wirelessly and seamlessly, from anywhere on-site.

Seven Network’s main priorities were focused on finding an ideal solution that would fit their vision of a complete wireless refresh, while leveraging off their existing security policy management platform, to provide a reliable, resilient and secure wireless environment. To cater for Seven’s vision of a wireless-first corporate network environment, we provided Wireless Access Points, and licensing for multiple controllers and switches. Seven was already familiar with our chosen vendor’s WLCs, as they already have existing APs that will be redeployed to other sites upon the wireless refresh. The solution will help Seven meet its vision and increase the network’s security. As security is paramount for the national broadcaster, Outcomex provided an end-to-end infrastructure solution, leveraging Seven’s existing security policy management platform in conjunction with the latest generation Wireless Lan Controllers and WiFi 6/6E WAP.

Through the investment into vendor infrastructure, Seven Network can take advantage of the end-to-end security and integration capabilities of the Enterprise Network environment. Comprehensive security threat intelligence services mean that the broadcaster will receive threat intelligence from multiple security solutions and wireless devices connected around the globe, to ensure that any vulnerabilities are quickly identified, and patches are made available in the shortest possible timeframe.

With the transformation of Seven Network’s wireless infrastructure, we ensured the broadcaster had a robust and effective solution that not only met and exceeded their strategic wireless-first requirements but also provided enhanced security and helped to ensure effective, streamlined business operations’ continuity.

Outcomex currently provides managed services for the network environment including the routing, switching and wireless devices across the country.

Impact

By becoming a wireless-first corporate network environment, Seven Network’s staff now have the ability to connect to the network from anywhere in the office – improving not only productivity but also enhancing collaboration within the workspace. This allows for streamlining operations, boosting efficiency and supporting business growth.

As the environment continues to evolve, the management thereof will become a key operational consideration. One environment to manage all the wireless and compatible wired devices will provide real savings in operational expenses and time to resolution. The broadcaster has the option to have end-to-end management of their environment, giving them a single platform for visibility of all devices connected to their network.

Seven Network will continue to receive support and managed services from Outcomex, which will aid them in ensuring all network and infrastructure remains secure.
